📦 Product Description
- Set of 2 caterpillar-shaped team boards for groups of three children.
- No hand ropes: feet are secured with velcro straps and there's nothing to hold, so progress depends entirely on body coordination.
- Children must talk, coordinate and match each other to move forward. Without ropes to pull on, the challenge is significantly harder than roped versions.
- The best technique: each child rests their hands on the shoulders of the person in front, linking the group into one line for easier synchronisation.
- Soft, lightweight EVA, suitable for bare feet or shoes.
✨ Benefits
- This is the purest teamwork resource in the range: three children must step in unison, and one rushing or lagging brings everyone down. Success depends not on individual ability but on communication and compromise — a lesson far more powerful than being told about teamwork.
- The absence of ropes is the point: there's no pulling to compensate with, only calling out rhythm, listening and feeling a teammate's movement through their shoulders — real practice in social communication and non-verbal coordination, particularly valuable for autism social groups.
- Moving with both feet fixed to one board demands bilateral coordination, rhythm control and motor planning, while holding a teammate's shoulders adds proprioceptive input and social physical contact.
- Falling, mistiming and frustration are inevitable — and those moments are exactly where coping with setbacks, taking turns to speak and negotiating solutions get practised for real.
🎮 How to Play / Use
- Chant together: hands on the shoulders in front, calling "left! right! left! right!" Start marching on the spot and only move forward once synchronised — so even less able groups succeed.
- Course challenge: set a start and finish, or cones for a winding route. Races work, but early on set "finish together" as the goal rather than competing, to keep pressure low.
